Cooperation with Latin America
Apart from the usual committees there are also so-called ‘joint parliamentary committees’, which are commonly referred to as delegations. These delegations allow for exchanges between members of different parliaments from all over the world. Moreover, they add a parliamentary dimension to European foreign, trade and development policy.
From 2009 to 2014 I was a member of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with the Countries of Central America (DCAM). Since 2009 I have been a member of EUROLAT, a multilateral Parliamentary Assembly with 75 representatives each from the European Parliament and the Latin American continent. Within EUROLAT I am part of the committee on economics, one of three committees of this interparliamentary assembly. We regularly gather to advance and coordinate our economic relations and to identify means to mutually support each other in this area.
